The main challenge addressed by the CORPUS project is the revival of degraded public spaces in peripheral urban neighborhoods, whereas “revival” means both material renovation and socio-economic regeneration. We aim at studying how participatory and digitally-enabled circular urban economies (CUE) can support citizens in collectively designing and realizing sharing and circular practices in their daily spaces.
We involve local stakeholders and citizens in two Urban Living Labs, focused on maker communities and upcycling techniques (in Aigaleo, Greece), and sharing economy models such as libraries of things (in Turin, Italy).
We combine material, social and digital dimensions: semi-permanent urban equipments and sharing practices are collectively designed and tested, thanks to participatory design and engagement tools - such as serious games. Moreover, a blockchain-based wallet app will enable tokenized economies and incentives oriented to promote cooperation and the circularity of materials, services and goods.
The CORPUS project will provide hands-on knowledge on viable models of community-based CUEs, demonstrated by the two Urban Living Labs in Aigaleo and Turin.
This knowledge will be made available with the CORPUS Toolkit: a comprehensive toolkit targeting policy makers, professionals, researchers and activists that are willing to activate community-based CUEs. The toolkit will offer them a diverse set of knowledge, tips and tools, including: CUE models, participatory methodologies, co-design tools for upcycling and for tokenized economies, and the blockchain-based platform prototype.
