DUT City Panel in Vienna

Fruitful first gathering of city representatives in Vienna – From 1 to 2 June 2023 the DUT City Panel and the DUT Public officers and Practitioners Community (PoP-C) met for the first time in person in Vienna. 21 city representatives from 14 cities in 9 countries participated and engaged in great discussions. The event provided a unique  opportunity for direct personal exchange, discussions and collaborative work on various projects among the participating cities. Most of all, the participants had the chance to learn from and visit exciting projects and developments in Vienna.

On the first day, the focus was on learnings from good examples implemented in other cities. Six participants shared insights into their local projects followed by a workshop session which discussed the initial phases of projects, experimentation and piloting, procedures and procurement gaps, and fostering replication.

Day 2 included a workshop session on the cities’ needs for participating in DUT joint calls and the take-up of project outcomes into cities’ policies.

A dense program of site visits tested participants’ physical and mental stamina but included exciting experts’ inputs on the transformation of Vienna’s main shopping street, the Viennese Superblock piloting, and the development areas Sonnwendviertel and Kempelenpark

After this successful on-site meeting, we look forward to further exchange in a another city in 2024!
