Coordinating structure: The Spanish National Platform is an initiative designed to support all Spanish cities (over 20.000 inhabitants) committed to achieve climate neutrality, including those selected by the European Mission of climate neutral and smart cities. The platform is built on c itiES 2030 (a group of Spanish cities committed to transform their cities and accelerate the energy and ecological transition before 2030). Starting with 2022, Spain is working on designing and implementing a wider national platform, co-funded by the national government, to offer diverse services to all Spanish cities interested in becoming climate-neutral by 2030. The Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge officially launched the national platform for the implementation of the European Cities Mission in Spain in October 2022. This platform is led by the Technical University of Madrid and EIT Climate KIC with financial support from the Ministry. The national platform is a multi-stakeholder infrastructure where the quintuple helix (multi-level governments, private companies, academia, mass media, and civil society) collaborate in a radical way to implement the Mission in Spain and accelerate the transition of Spanish cities towards climate neutrality by 2030.
