DUT will be at the Innovate4Cities conference in Nairobi to discuss how cities can move from climate ambition to implementation. Amongst other things, DUT constributes to the session Institutionalizing Transformative Science-Society Partnerships and leads the session Beyond Coordination: Financing and Delivering Urban Climate Transitions on 24 June 11.30-12.30 local time.

Financing and delivering Urban Climate Transitions

Bringing together experts from international organisations, academia, the real estate sector and urban innovation networks, the session will explore the governance models, financing mechanisms and partnership structures needed to accelerate urban climate transitions nearly a decade after the Paris Agreement.

The session will examine how emerging "second-order dynamics" are reshaping the context in which urban climate action takes place. These include structural transformations such as changing real estate markets, evolving investment priorities, reduced public-sector capacity and growing social and political polarisation. While not climate challenges inthemselves, these dynamics significantly influence cities' ability to deliver climate action.

The session will be available to stream online through conference registration.
