European cities face growing challenges in building urban resilience and adapting to climate change, particularly in marginalised and vulnerable districts, where climate-related risks – such as heat, flooding, and air pollution – affect communities even more severely.
URBACT and DUT are collaborating with cities to build knowledge and capacities for urban resilience and share good practices. This session brings together these insights, fostering interactive exchanges with invited city cases and encourage peer learning. Specifically, it will also delve into the role of R&I in this field and address key open questions, setting the stage for further exploration within DUT and URBACT.
Join the highly interactive session and dive deep into city examples on urban resilience from
- Bordeaux on their “Métropole Rafraichissante” programme against urban heatwaves
- Vilnius on their initiative to foster climate neutral communities
- Copenhagen on their “Climate Taskforce” model to empower citizens for local green transitions
The session takes place at the European Week of Regions and Cities.
