As cities strive to create more liveable, equitable, and sustainable urban environments, the 15-minute City concept has gained significant attention. But how can this concept accelerate the urban mobility transition and effectively tackle the most pressing issues? And how can we ensure that the 15-minute City embraces the variety of urban lifestyles and offers people an active role in the urban mobility transition?
In this Urban Lunch Talk, we will discuss the importance of involving communities in planning and decision-making processes and how inclusive practices can drive a more just urban mobility transition.
The conversation will be anchored around two Critical Issues: ‘Involvement of People’ and ‘Organising the Transition’. The Critical Issues are part of DUTs Position Paper ‘Navigating the 15-minute City: First Learnings and Discussions from the Driving Urban Transitions Partnership’. We define Critical Issues as issues that might affect the successful implementation of the 15-minute City concept and consequently the transition towards more just and sustainable cities.
