Urban production once occupied large portions of cities. Over time, these spaces have been increasingly reduced in scale, re-zoned, and repurposed for what are often seen as more crucial or profitable uses, such as residential properties. Is this shift justified, or can a solid production sector bring real value to urban centres?

In this Urban Lunch Talk we will explore where urban production fits into today’s urban landscape. Do cities still have space for it, do they need it, and what value does it bring?

A panel of experts will join us to discuss how urban production can drive a circular economy and explore how cities can balance spaces for production with other urban priorities.

Speakers

  • Adrian Hill, Director and Co-Founder, Osmos Network
  • Jerryt Krombeen, Sr. Urban Designer, City of The Hague
  • Teresa Domenech, Assoc. Professor in Industrial Ecology and Circular Economy, University College of London (UCL)

Moderator: Jennifer Wendelius, Communications Officer, Driving Urban Transitions Partnership
