Urban Lunch Talk #48 - Making Liveable Streets Happen

Across Europe, cities are rethinking how streets are used by shifting space from cars to people and transforming traffic corridors into places of public life. Yet, even where the vision is clear, the path to implementation is anything but. Political hesitation, vocal opposition, and the deep-rooted pull of the status quo continue to slow the transition towards liveable, climate-resilient streets and neighbourhoods. 

In this Urban Lunch Talk on "Making Liveable Streets Happen", we will explore what it takes for cities to turn ambition into action. Drawing on a recent DUT Knowledge Hub group discussions with four DUT projects (CoCoNet, POLICYMIX4MOBILITY, UNLOCK15, UVAR4US), we will explore how diverse stakeholders can be aligned around a shared vision and how temporary interventions can make the benefits of street transformation visible and tangible. 

Drawing on their own expertise and project examples from cities such as Munich, London, Bodrum and Bielefeld, speakers will provide concrete recommendations on how to address an often politically sensitive topic.
