Become an Evaluator of Project Proposals

Experts in mobility, energy, and circularity are invited to register their interest in evaluating project proposals for the DUT Partnership’s fourth transnational call.

The Driving Urban Transitions (DUT) Partnership is seeking experts to evaluate project proposals submitted in its annual calls. The external experts will be selected through a Call for Experts, which will be open from 22 October 2025 to 1 December 2025.

The experts should have a high level of expertise and professional experience in the topics of the DUT Call 2025. The project proposals are grouped into three thematic areas, the Transition Pathways. Read more about the call topics in each Transition Pathway here.

By joining the DUT Expert Panels, you will be asked to:

  • Read and analyse 7-15 pre-proposals submitted to the DUT Call 2025.
  • Evaluate each proposal according to the DUT evaluation criteria (see DUT Call Text section 4.5).
  • Discuss your evaluations with fellow experts in the DUT Expert Panels, which will take place online at the end of January 2026 (last week). Depending on the Transition Pathway and the number of pre-proposals you evaluate, your attendance will be required on 1-3 days.
  • Deliver a summary report for three or more of your evaluated pre-proposals.

All the work will be conducted remotely.

Compensation

  • Panel members – for each day of attending an Expert Panel meeting: €358,19
  • Panel members – per pre-proposal that they pre-evaluated: €37,42
  • Panel members – for each evaluation summary report: €37,42

The selection of the experts will be carried out by the DUT Call Secretariat.

The DUT Partnership started in 2022 and steps up the game to tackle urban challenges. The partnership is co-funded within the European Research and Innovation (R&I) Framework Programme, Horizon Europe. Its mission is to fund transformative research and innovation to build capacities of urban stakeholders and empower them to drive urban transitions in Europe and beyond. 

DUT Calls

Four annual calls have been launched by DUT. From 2024 to 2033, over 250 funded projects will be supported, developing, testing and scaling new approaches, practices and tools for urban transitions.
