PoP Community
Urban challenges demand integrated solutions and the ability to translate research and innovation into meaningful on-the-ground actions. The Public Officers and Practitioners (PoP) Community empowers local authorities, municipalities, and urban professionals to bridge that gap, translating global strategies into local action.
Target groups
- Public officers (public servants, civil servants) working within national or local administration, serving the public interest beyond political affiliations.
- Practitioners involved in shaping urban governance structure and supportive framework. They play a key role in designing, supporting, and delivering urban policies, often working through partnerships and cross-sector collaborations.
What
Urban innovation often struggles to reach real-world implementation due to a variety of barriers - some systemic, others specific to urban planning. The PoP Community focuses on overcoming these challenges by building capacities and activities and strengthening the connection between research and practice. Our work addresses four types of gaps:
- Organisational: Hands on the organisational dimension among offices and departments to avoid silo effects
- Procedures and procurements: Hands on procedures and procurements aspects which support transformation process related to the selected projects
- Finance: Hands on investment, funding and business model which support transformation process related to the selected projects.
- Technology: Hands on enabling technological solutions to support transition
How
- Workshops and webinars focused on the four gaps
- Exchange of knowledge, experience and expertise among public officers and practitioners. Successful transformations are collected and documented within the PoP-C tool.
