CAMINUP brings together research on mobilities of care and youth- centric mobilities to reimagine inclusive and accessible urban spaces. The focus of the project is young carers – young people who have long-term care responsibilities in their household. CAMINUP will gather mixed-method data on the barriers young carers face in accessing urban amenities related to education, work, care, and leisure.
The project will also draw wider lessons on urban governance and policy-making, by bringing together diverse stakeholders from the case study cities – Bucharest (RO), Ghent (BE), London (UK), and Plovdiv (BG). Together, we will explore how collaboration across domains such as social care, education, urban planning, and transport planning can help create more inclusive and accessible cities.
The CAMINUP project will deliver insights on how cross-sector and cross-department collaboration can inform urban and transport decision-making informed by the complex mobility and accessibility needs of young people with care responsibilities, and more broadly, groups who are not often considered in the planning of urban space.
